"Missing You"

Lately I have been spending a lot of my time missing people. Friends, mostly. You see, I feel like I've been left behind by everyone. All of my friends are on missions, or leaving on missions, or traveling the world, or getting married, or moving on with life. I'm just...stuck. I'm having a really hard time dealing with my job - it depresses me. I'm ok there sometimes...but lately, I just can't stand it. I have zero motivation - in all aspects of my life. And I'm lonely. Desperately lonely.

I've recently been reminded of a song called Missing You. The first verse goes:

Every time I think of you
I always catch my breath
And I'm still standing here and you're miles away
And I'm wondering why you left

Those last 2 lines...those pretty much describe my life right now. I don't know how to move on, how to move past this feeling of being trapped, of being stuck.

You can listen to the song by clicking here.

To my friends - though you probably won't read this - I miss you. Jordan, Erin, Kaia, Todd, Brendan, Andrea, Katie, Carrie, Elliot... Just know that I love you all. And I could use a hug.

Just had to get that out there.

Dear Boys

So...this is a Dear Boys post. Elise, from Elise's Pieces does them. And as I feel the need to say some words to some boys (but not actually to them, because that's awkward), I thought I would join in the fun. :) Here it goes:

Dear Brigham City Boy,

I really like hanging out with you. Also, you're rather handsome. Will you date me please?

Love,
Twitterpated

Recent RM,

You give the best hugs. Can I have one soon?

Sincerely,
Stressed Out

Dear Missionary Boy,

You are my best friend. Also, you are coming home in 4 months. Will you be awkward? Please say no.

Thanks,
Girl Who Misses You

Being Crafty...

Yesterday was my day off from work. So I decided to use the free time to do a little crafting.

First, I made a necklace/lanyard for my work badge. . I kind of just....went for it. No real direction. Though I had read this post by Nichelle of Vintage Wanna Bee earlier in the day... It seems that's where my inspiration came from. {I think her's is cuter than mine...I'll have to try again sometime.} Here's my finished product:

I like it a lot, but I'm not sure I'm brave enough to wear it. Maybe tomorrow...We'll see.

The other thing I made was a little embellishment for my purse. I did have a plan for this one. I think it turned out really well! I was excited. And a girl at work complimented me on it today. Which was lovely. And very nice of her. It looks like this:

The back is really simple--I covered the back in fabric, then used some scraps to attach safety pins {I used 3 safety pins, but I wanted to be very sure that it was not going to go anywhere or wobble}. It took me about 15 minutes total...and I was catching up on House while I made it.

All of my supplies {except for the yarn, I got that from a Relief Society Women's Conference, and the safety pins, I found those near my mom's sewing machine} came from Hobby Lobby. {I love that store!} The blue rosette is made from some tulle I found that has pretty reflective silver circles in it. And the bright multi-colored rosette is part of a bundle of fabric I bought there.

Hope you all had a lovely Tuesday.  :)

If At First You Don't Succeed...

I had quite the interesting weekend...

To begin, I started a new job on Tuesday, and I have to go to training for 3 weeks, then I'll be in transition for 2 more weeks, and then I'll actually start doing my job.

On Friday, I got an email telling me that I was not accepted into Utah State University's art program. I was pretty down about it. But I suppose I shall keep on applying. In the meantime, I plan to take some classes at Bridgerland Applied Technology College. Maybe I'll go to USU this Fall just to try and get my GPA up. Anyway, it wasn't very happy news.

I then went to watch the USU Basketball game, and we won! Which was great. And happy. :)

When I got home from the game, I went out to feed my dog (a lovely 11 year old black Lab that lives in my backyard), and realized too late that a skunk was hanging out behind the kennel. So I got sprayed a little, my dog got sprayed a lot, and I spent Friday night doing laundry, spending a long time in the shower, and freaking out because I had spend the next morning at work in a small classroom with 20 other people.

I had work on Saturday at 7:30 a.m., and I am fairly sure that I no longer smelled like skunk. But all that changed when I arrived home after 3 p.m.

When I got home I had to bath rescue the poor dog. I found a skunk smelling remedy online that is supposed to help. It worked on my laundry, but I did have to wash it twice and let it soak in the solution overnight.

These skunks are cuter than the one that sprayed me.
I'm sure of it.     {source}
The formula is:
1 quart vinegar
1/4 cup baking soda
1-2 tsp dish soap

The concoction helped with the skunk smell on the dog...but no miracles occurred.  My poor dog...she still stinks. I did find another remedy at the pet store today--I'll have to try it on her tomorrow.

The worst part of this entire mess, is that my hands still smell faintly of skunk. I wore gloves the entire time, but they must not have been thick enough. I hope I can get rid of the smell before tomorrow!

On a more positive note, I made a couple of things today. I made a necklace/lanyard for my work badge, and I made a little rosette pin for my purse. I was quite excited. Hopefully I'll be able to post pictures tomorrow.

Sorry for complaining so much! Thanks for reading. :)

My I Heart Faces Challenge Entry {Sun Flare}

This week at iheartfaces.com, the challenge is Sun Flare.

I have a great love of sun flare--it's my favorite photo effect. I had a hard time narrowing down my lovely sun flare pictures to pick just one, but this one is my absolute favorite. It's of my favorite model, also known as my gorgeous sister. I took this photo during the summer at a park up Provo Canyon in Utah. I went there a lot--the park is beautiful, as is the light. Hope you like it!

Photoshoot!

Hey!

So I wanted to tell you all about some friends of mine. They're rather fantastic, if I do say so myself. We get together nearly every week, but one of my best friends came home for Presidents' Day weekend (and her birthday), and we all got together for a photoshoot on Monday.

It was quite the adventure. We wandered up and down Main Street in Logan for a few hours, just snapping pictures. Well, I kept snapping pictures. They just wandered around, posing sometimes, but mostly just being themselves. :) I love them.

I finally finished editing them yesterday, so I thought I'd post some of them so you can see. (I know it seems like there are a lot of photos. And really, there are. But considering how many I took, this is just a small sampling.)

I hope you like them! I love comments--I'd love to hear what you think!

(Also, I ask that you please not repost these photos anywhere else without permission. Thanks!)

Jasmine, Chelsey, and Carrie. I love Chelsey's expression in this one--And Carrie's.
Erin is pictured in all of these--Katie is in the center one with her. Aren't they both just gorgeous?
Andrea, Chelsey, and Jasmine. That face Andrea is making? That's totally normal for her. Just so you know.
Erin again. She could seriously be a model.
Chelsey, Andrea, and Katie. Katie has the most gorgeous eyes--and smile.

And finally, a group shot. Those expressions? Completely normal for all of them. And I love that.
A recap (from left to right): Erin, Katie, Jasmine, Carrie, and Andrea.

I can't imagine life without these girls. They're all amazing, inspiring, and the best friends anyone could have. I hope you all have fantastic people in your lives like these girls. Thanks for reading!

Feeling Like The New Kid On The Block

Hey.

So...I'm Heather. And this is my blog. And this is a very awkward beginning.
But you know, I'm kind of new to the whole posting thing. So hopefully you'll forgive me.

So I thought, to begin, that I should introduce myself to you.

This is me:

I live at home in Cache Valley with my family--Mom, Dad, 2 brothers and a sister.
Isn't it pretty?
source
I'm not presently in school, but I did go to Utah Valley University for a year. And I've applied to the Art program at Utah State University for next Fall. But I spend most of my time job-hunting these days. Or spending time pursuing my many varying interests.
To name a few:

I have a MacBook Pro (which I love, and spend a lot of time with).

I love art. I majored in art at school, and hope to again one day.
"Purple Cone Flower" by Heather Holt
(Yes, the Heather Holt who painted this is the same
Heather Holt who is authoring this blog.)
I have a passion for photography and design.
This is my sister, p.s. She's my favorite model.

I {heart} music and British TV. (I promise I like American things too...)
Have you heard of Mumford & Sons? They're fantastic.
My favorite song of theirs? It would have to be
"White Blank Page" or "Awake My Soul."
Check them out!

Does anyone else know about Doctor Who?
Anyone?

I also like to craft, bake, play games, read blogs, and read books.

So all of those things I listed above? Yeah, you'll probably hear about those things at some point if you visit In Good Time regularly.

I also have several very good friends, who you may hear about from time to time. I have some friends on LDS missions, so you might get some snippets from their exciting lives as well. I've known nearly all of these people since my freshman year of high school. We're a little crazy, but I love us.

Oh, we were so cute. (This is a photo of a few of us
in Cedar City for the Shakespearean Festival.
'Cause we're awesome like that.)
And this is a photo of some of us after we finished making
graham cracker TARDISes. (TARDISes are from Doctor Who--
don't be too concerned if you have no clue what I'm talking about.)

Anyway...That's a bit about me. Sorry if it's a bit random...My interests are very "diverse."

I'd love it if you would come back and visit sometime, ok? Thanks!
